Just don’t do it- they will price gouge
I was with North American power longer than I should have been. They will double your rate while you are working your life away. Just go with one of the other suppliers and save yourselves before the contract period ends and they double plus your rate.

Overcharge on electric rates and bill
North American Power overcharges without asking consent from the consumer solely based on their own discretion. they offer no reasonable refund. it is unconscionable that companies should be allowed to raise rates while promoting themselves to consumers as giving lower rates than the basic utility. they raise rates without asking consent or alerting the consumer this is against any lawful contract General principle. consumers have no easy way to verify because the bills are extremely convoluted in addition the infrastructure is old and our area is without power more than would be reasonable expected. this practice is unacceptable consumers be aware!!!

"Pay or Go To Collection!"
I received a bill for $120.00 for a discontinuation of services from North American Power. I was well within my time for the cancellation, however, I was told that I did not call to cancel. I have all of the paper work but they basically called me a liar and insisted I pay the $120 or I go do collection. They would however, let me back in the program if I wanted to be there and they would not make me pay. This company is disgusting. AS if our electric bills aren't high enough, now I have to pay this. I am still fighting and others should too!

The exact same thing has happened to me, but rather, because I moved, I got my bill beyond the allotted payoff time, which is ridiculous. They dated the bill for Oct 1, with a due date of Oct 4, but you can imagine that I didn't get my bill within those days because of how slow mail takes.
I just got it in the mail at the end of last week. I called them up wondering what the *** my charge was for today 10/16, and they tell me that it's already been sent to collections and that it's out of their hands now. I asked, how that timeline is legal and fair. No business gives 3 day windows to payoff something.
Not to mention, when I asked when it was sent to collections, he said the 7th. So literally, over another 3 day period after the due date, they *** over. I don't even have a late notice on my bill that would have warranted this kind of action.
What the *** kind of customer service is that, that you fail to communicate and then go ahead and try to screw someone's credit by just sending it to collections without proper communication? I now work in the energy industry myself, and don't get my started on the practices I've been informed about by this "company." It's a legal scam is all they are.
